Rawalpindi: (November 04, 2020) A special plane of Pakistan International Airlines reached Pakistani prisoners from Sri Lanka.
Pakistan International Airlines special flight PK9873 has reached Kolkata from Sri Lanka with 43 Pakistani prisoners. Along with the prisoners, 88 FIA officials and officers have also returned home. According to airport officials, the FIA has transferred the detainees to the anti-human trafficking cell. Passengers will be sent home after further necessary action.
In this regard, Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari had written a letter to the Sri Lankan authorities for the release of Pakistanis. The letter called for the immediate release of compatriots imprisoned abroad. This is the first time since the two countries reached an agreement in 2004 that all released prisoners will be able to spend time with their families.
Welcoming the decision of Justice Project Pakistan, an organization working for the release of prisoners, he praised the efforts of Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari and the Pakistani High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and said that the present government was serious in resolving overseas issues.
