Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the people of the areas should be taken care of for the development of tourist destinations and the residents of the areas should get the benefit of economic activities.
According to details, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Gabin Jabba, Swat. On his arrival, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan received the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the steps taken by the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promote tourism in the province.
It was informed in the briefing that the eco-friendly camping pods at Gabin Jabba have been opened for tourists since August 2020, which has boosted economic activities in the area along with revenue generation. It was informed in the briefing that about 100 pods have been installed at various tourist destinations in the province while another 90 pods are being invited through UNDP.
The provincial government plans to provide loans of Rs. 4 lakh per house to 500 families on easy terms, which will enable them to provide a room with their homes and other facilities to tourists. In collaboration with the World Bank, work is underway on the establishment of eco-friendly modern tourist centers on thousands of kanals of land in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Swat. In February 2021, activities like skiing, snow marathon, snowboarding will be organized in Chitral, Malam Jabba, Swat and Kagan. Special tourism authorities have been set up in Kalam, Kamrat and Kalash to promote tourism activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Briefing was also given regarding construction of 372 km link roads and 14 km Kumrat cable to reach different places.
The Prime Minister directed the provincial government to take special care of the people of these areas along with the promotion of tourist destinations so that they could get maximum benefit.
The Prime Minister directed that the services of international standard consultants be sought for further development of tourist destinations and commencement of suitable economic activities there.
The Prime Minister said that greater benefit of economic activities in tourist destinations must accrue to the residents of these areas. He further directed that special care should be taken for cleanliness in these places and unnecessary constructions should be avoided so that the natural beauty of the place is maintained.
