ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has decided to revive Karachi Circular Railway (KCR).

According to sources, Pakistan Railways is reviving KCR in phases from November 16. Initially, KCR will be run from Landhi to Orangi.

Circular railway hours will be from 7 to 10 in the morning and from 1 to 4 in the afternoon, 4 trains will leave daily from Pipri and 4 from Orangi. The fare for a complete journey of 60 km will be Rs. 50.

It may be recalled that the Railway Deficit Self Notice case was heard in the Supreme Court of Pakistan today. The court has issued contempt notices to Pakistan Railways and Sindh government on Karachi Circular Railway (KCR).

The court asked why the court order was not implemented. Departmental correspondence was sent but the order of the Supreme Court was not implemented.

The court remarked that the Secretary Railways and the Chief Secretary had committed contempt of court. The court directed the Secretary Railways and Chief Secretary Sindh to appear in person.

The court asked why the Karachi Circular Railway project was not activated. The court also directed the DGFWO to appear in person and give an explanation.
