Corona cases in Europe have doubled in the past five weeks, bringing the total to more than 10 million.
According to figures released by Reuters, 5 million cases were recorded in Europe in about nine months, with another 5 million cases reported in the past month.
The report added that more than 1.6 million cases and more than 16,100 deaths were reported in Europe in one week.
Cases reported in Europe make up 22% of reported cases worldwide.
The epidemic has killed about 1.2 million people worldwide, with more than 269,000 deaths in Europe alone.
Following a steady increase in cases, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have announced nationwide lockdowns for one month, while Portugal has imposed partial lockdowns and Spain and Italy have tightened sanctions.
