According to Arab media, the Prime Minister of Bahrain Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman was undergoing treatment at the Mayo Clinic in the United States due to ill health.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, 84, will be buried in Bahrain.
Bahrain's King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has declared a week of mourning across the country, with the national flag flying.
