ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission (EC) has reserved its decision on the disqualification petition of provincial law minister Basharat Raja till November 30. Basharat Raja challenged the admissibility of the disqualification petition.

A four-member commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Alexander Sultan Raja heard a petition seeking disqualification of provincial law minister Basharat Raja. Basharat Raja's counsel objected to the admissibility of the petition, saying that according to the law, only such a petition can be filed by a contesting candidate. The matter is pending in the Islamabad High Court.
Petitioner Samil Waheed said that Basharat Raja submitted a fake affidavit to contest the elections. Not all the details related to the assets were submitted. Basharat Raja has agricultural land but it has not been disclosed in the statements and no tax has been paid. After arguments, the Election Commission reserved its decision on the disqualification petition of Basharat Raja. The safe decision will be announced on November 30.
