Saudi Arabia has announced severe punishments for those who cut down trees or plants.
Saudi Arabia's public prosecutor has announced a fine of about 80 8 million (30 million Saudi riyals) for cutting down a tree or plant. He faces up to 10 years in prison, or both at the same time.
The Saudi prosecution wrote on Twitter that cutting down trees, uprooting herbs or plants, as well as depriving them of stems, leaves, branches or any part, would result in severe penalties under the country's environmental law.
These harsh punishments for those who cut down trees have been announced in accordance with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. The goal is to achieve environmental stability in the country by the end of the next decade.
Last month, Saudi Arabia's Environment Minister Abdul Rahman al-Fadhli announced the launch of a new tree-planting campaign. Under this, 10 million trees will be planted by April 2021.
