The accountability court reprimanded the police officers for not presenting PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz at the last hearing in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case. The court remarked that the conduct of the police suggests that the state has failed, seemingly a small thing but the message went internationally that one accused did not appear in court.
The Ramadan Sugar Mills case was heard in the Lahore Accountability Court on Tuesday. PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz was brought to the court in an armored vehicle. ۔
SP Headquarters and SP Legal told the court that Hamza Shahbaz refused to sit in the armored vehicle and went back to jail. This is the first time this has happened and Hamza himself is responsible for it. Police officers apologized to the court and assured not to do so again.
The judge remarked that the conduct of the police suggests that the state has failed. Apparently it is a small thing but see what the consequences will be, a negative message has been sent internationally.
Hamza Shahbaz said that the court is being misled, they have been appearing for 17 months, the jail authorities are aware of the back pain but still deliberately sent an armored vehicle.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case till November 17 and said that at the next hearing we will see who is at fault and what is to be resolved.
