The decision of National Command Operations Center (NCOC) to close the indoor marriage halls has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court. The competent officer of the NCOC has been summoned in person on November 18 following the decision of the court.
The petition filed by Indoor Wedding Halls Association Markey was heard in the Islamabad High Court on Thursday, November 12. The hearing was conducted by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah. In today's hearing, Sardar Timur Aslam, lawyer of the Marquee Association, said that government opposition meetings were going on at various places including Hafizabad and Gilgit. The court is not interfering in policy matters. This is what we want.
He said that our opinion should be included in the process of decision making. The NCOC issued a notification on November 6 that marriage would not be allowed in the indoor hall from November 20. The Marquis is banned, but the government itself is holding large rallies. On which the court said that they must ask the government why the Marquis is being discriminated against. However, if a corona spreads in a marriage, you cannot take responsibility for it. The government has imposed a ban and is holding large rallies.
Petitioner's lawyer added that policy should be made but not to make 10,000 people unemployed. The Prime Minister says that they will not stop the wheel of the economy, then why this against the Marquis? If there is no code of conduct, then stop it.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court said that now you will ban others? Or do you want the ban to be lifted? The court issued notice to the Deputy Director National Command and Operations Center and summoned the competent officer of the NCOC in person on November 18. Explain why the government has double standards regarding the Marquis, the court remarks said. The case was adjourned till November 18.
It may also be mentioned here that as per the instructions issued by the NCOC, the event was allowed for 300 people indoors, while the event for 500 people was allowed for outdoor. The ceremony was scheduled for 10 p.m. The relevant authority was authorized to take action on the function which continued after 10 pm. However, in the wake of rising cases and a second wave of coronavirus, indoor events have been banned.
