Lahore accountability court extended the judicial remand of National Assembly Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz and summoned them on November 11 for indictment.

In the absence of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz at the beginning of the hearing, the court questioned why they had not been produced so far, to which the jail authorities said they would be produced shortly.

On this occasion, the hearing was adjourned for some time and Hamza Shahbaz and Shahbaz Sharif were taken to the court room.
After the adjournment, the money laundering reference against Shahbaz Sharif resumed hearing in which the court provided copies of the statements of the promised witness to Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and other accused.
Shahbaz Sharif's lawyer Amjad Pervez complained that Shahbaz Sharif is the opposition leader in the National Assembly while Hamza Shahbaz is the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and both have been presented in armored vehicles.
The lawyer said that one of them was suffering from sciatica and the other was suffering from back pain. Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz were brought in armored vehicles to cause pain.
NAB Lahore's position regarding the jail trial of Shahbaz Sharif and his family was presented in the accountability court. Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif demanded the provision of medical and other basic facilities in the jail.
Shahbaz Sharif said that I am in the custody of the court and not in the custody of the government, physiotherapist has not been provided yet, the medical board had come for examination.
He said that it was said on Thursday that therapy facility was being provided but it was not provided.
During the hearing, the NAB submitted a report on the jail trial of the money laundering reference, which said that it was the discretion of the court to hold a jail trial in any case.
The NAB said that the order issued by the court would be implemented.
Later, the accountability court extended the judicial remand of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz till November 11 and besides these two other accused who were summoned on November 11 for indictment.
Money Laundering Reference It may be recalled that on August 17, the NAB had filed a money laundering reference of Rs 8 billion against Shahbaz Sharif, his two sons and other members of his family in the accountability court.
Later on August 20, the Lahore Accountability Court accepted the money laundering reference against Shahbaz Sharif and his family for hearing.
The reference mainly accused Shahbaz Sharif of taking advantage of assets held in the name of his family members and anonymous persons who did not have the resources to acquire such assets.
It said that members of the Shahbaz family and anonymous members had received billions of fake foreign remittances in their personal bank accounts. In addition to these remittances, the bureau said that billions of rupees should be returned through foreign pay orders. Went to Hamza and Suleiman's personal bank accounts.
The reference further said that Shahbaz Sharif's family failed to justify the sources of funds used to acquire the assets.
It said the accused committed crimes of corruption and corrupt activities as per the provisions of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and the Money Laundering Act 2010 and the court was asked to punish them under the law.
In this case, the Lahore High Court has granted bail to Shahbaz Sharif, while in the same case, the Lahore Accountability Court had issued bailable arrest warrants for Shahbaz Sharif's wife Nusrat Shahbaz and daughter Rabia Imran in a money laundering reference.
